"What if hospitality was actually a two-way street? If you haven’t noticed, then maybe I’m not the one who should tell you that it’s a crazy world out there. And listen, it’s not getting better anytime soon. Bars have always been a sort of sanctuary, and not just for the guest. Do you think people like me work in bars because we love being on our feet for 12 hours a day? No, we’re avoiding reality, too. Lord knows I’m here because I’m running away from a career in architecture." - Jeffrey Morgenthaler

SOCIAL CLUB

In the winter of 2018, Bar Bamako opened in the Mail AG Building with a simple purpose: to be a refuge. A place where the chaos of the outside world fades into the background of good music, elaborate drinks, and, foremost, a space for people to get together.

Three years after the last party at Mail AG, Bar Bamako is back—this time as Studio Bamako. Located at Ziegelackerstrasse 7, 3027 Bern, our new home is larger and ready to host more than just drinks. We are a space for small concerts, late-night movie screenings, and art exhibitions.

Once a month, the bar opens its doors. Come alone or bring your friends. We will be there serving music, cocktails, and good company. The sanctuary is open.

 Welcome back.

MUSIC

At the heart of Studio Bamako lies a record collection. For years, these records lived in bags in a cellar, waiting for a place to truly be heard. That’s when the idea was born: to give them a home where the music could take center stage. Now happily nestled on the big shelves of the bar, they help create our cozy atmosphere.

We are thrilled that alongside the DJ setup in the main bar, the back room now hosts a fantastic sound system—ready for a house party or an intimate listening session.

Musically, expect everything from electronic music to Afro, Soul, and Reggae. Next to our house selectors, we also host nights with guest DJs every now and then.

DRINKS

Frankly, we were quite a mediocre bar, drinks-wise, until we met our fourth crew member. With incredible precision, she crafts fantastic cocktails. Every month, she creates one or two special drinks for the evening, ranging from a Strawberry Daiquiri to a Fiery Chica Caliente. Do you like classics? Just ask at the bar. Not into cocktails? Our fridge is filled with fancy soft drinks, beer, and always some bubbles.
